| The Eagle Lands is a carved yellow cedar wall plaque, 20" X 6" based on Coastal Salish traditional artistic concepts.|
The eagle represents freedom and vision; Freedom is respecting individual freedom first. When this is strong one can share knowledge and respect with all Life; Vision is knowing that every decision made effects at least seven generations of the people. The Salmon represents survival, continuity and fertility of body, mind and spirit. The people of the coast depended on the salmon coming back every year, their cycle was respected by all the people
The Killer Whale represents long life, not so much in terms of time but in quality of life, living it to the fullest in every moment.
Together the Eagle, Salmon and Killer Whale are powerful reminders of the need to respect our individual freedom, not just on occasion, but like the salmon, on a continuous basis. When we acknowledge and respect our own freedom, it is easier to reach out and respect the freedom of all Life.
This plaque and the interpretation are the creation of the artist, Herb Rice.
