The Myths of Penelakut (Kuper) Island
by Herb Rice

This 4 x 3 x 2 yellow cedar panel, is a carved historical overview of Penelakut Island and the myths of its First People, carved by Herb Rice. The original design concepts are based on perceptions of the artist.

This piece is accompanied by a 6 1/2 minute recording relating the myths of Penelakut Island as written and narrated by the artist.   The beginning of the story started when you opened this page.   You can hear more of it, if you click on the map.

Music was written and performed by Susan H. Rankin and is available on her CD entilted Pagan Lullabies.
