Heron and Bullrushes
Doors designed and carved by Herb Rice

These beautiful standard size doors are each 6'8"X 3' carved in yellow cedar with red cedar frames. They have hammered copper highlights. They were designed to be the inside of the front doors in a house on the Saanich peninsula.

The elegant Blue Heron on one door is juxtaposed with the bullrushes on the other. The inlayed moon is split in half. Each door has one half moon.

The Blue Heron represents, patience, poise and the hunter. The moon represents transition.

These doors and the interpretation are the creation of the artist, Herb Rice.
