Eagle Sun Drum by Herb Rice

This Sun Eagle Drum is 18" in diameter. It is constructed on a woodframe with a raw hide stretched over it.

In Herb's Coast Salish culture, the drum is used in traditional ceremony. The drum represents the heartbeat of our mother, The Earth.

The painting depicts an eagle flying in front of the sun.

The eagle represents freedom and vision. Freedom meaning to acknowledge your own freedom first. Once you become strong in this, you can share this knowledge with your environment. The vision aspect of the eagle is knowing that every life choice you make will effect seven generations of your people.

The sun represents the life giving force.

The drum and the interpretation are the creation of the artist, Herb Rice.
